The perfect summer bbq low carb high protein burger bun!

There’s no summer cook-out that’s complete without a good burger, but why settle for the status quo stereotypical burger bun when you can kick it up a notch! Also what better wat to enjoy a burger than with a great tasting low carb high protein option?!

This high protein burger bun recipe is perfect for any occasion and a great way to get the extra protein you need without having to overload on meat. This is also a great solution for vegetarians to get the needed BCAAs found in the unflavored whey that vegetarians lack in their typical diet.

This recipe is for the bread for the burger, but not limited to just burgers. You can shape and cut to any desired shape including an awesome sub sandwich!

For a touch of added flavor you can add a tiny bit of honey for more of a sweet style bread.



  • 1/4 cup Unflavored Whey Protein
  • 1/4 cup Buckwheat Flour (or Oat Flour)
  • 1/2 cup Egg Whites
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Flour
  • 1/8 cup Pea Protein
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt


  1. Preheat oven to 320 degrees F (160 C).
  2. Blend all ingredients together.
  3. Separate batter into fourths.
  4. Place batter as four “blobs” on cookie tray
  5. .
    Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until an inserted knife comes out clean. They don’t brown too much, so keep a close eye on them!
  6. Allow to cool before slicing.
