What Gluten really is, and why the whole world IS NOT Gluten free!

While the┬áhealth and food industry has been making over the past few years with the rise of “gluten intolerances” here in the US, the rest of the world has been remaining steadfast in it’s consumption of this NATURALLY OCCURING “glue”!

Gluten is best describe essentially as just that…. a “glue”. Yet not the type of glue we go and make our fun art projects with, yet a bonding of 2 proteins prolamins and glutelins and stored together with starch in the endosperm of various grass-related grains such as wheat, barley, rye, oat, related species and hybrids and products of these. It is the bonding of these proteins that form the grains structure aswell as what gives baked goods, pastas, doughs, and breads their fluffy amazing texture.

While it has been known to cause true illness in individuals with Celiac disease, the large majority of people that claim to be gluten intolerant are frankly buying into fear and social hype.

Gluten has been around longer than most our ancestors so it’s safe to say it will outlast us aswell. The important thing to remember is to not always by into the hype and hysteria that floats around in our society especially in the information age we live in.

If you truly feel you have a medical intolerance to gluten it’s important to seek treatment and diagnosis from you physician!
